Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Koru ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is a free, ad-supported app that accompanies a family from pregnancy through early parenting. Koru is operated by Jacob & Co (제이콥엔코), an independent developer. You can reach us at admin@jacobko.app.

2. Data We Collect and Why

Account information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and display name to create your account. If you continue as a guest, you are signed in anonymously and we receive no personal details. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication (and Apple, for Sign in with Apple).

Your content

Journal entries (text, optional emotion, date), appointments, Well Child / care items, and your profile and family settings are stored in Google Cloud Firestore so they sync across your devices.

Photos

Photos and ultrasound images you add are stored in Google Firebase Storage and cached locally on your device. They are private to your family.

On-device data

An offline cache (a local database) and your app preferences are stored only on your device.

Usage & diagnostics

Firebase Analytics (aggregate usage) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash diagnostics) help us understand stability and improve the App.

Advertising

Koru shows a single banner ad via Google AdMob. On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt lets you choose between personalised and non-personalised ads — the App stays free either way. AdMob may process device and advertising identifiers. See Google's Privacy Policy.

3. Permissions

Koru asks for the following permissions, in context and only when needed:

• Camera & photo library — to add photos and ultrasound images to your memories.
• Notifications — for Well Child / care reminders.

All permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS Settings.

4. How Your Data Is Shared

We do not sell your data. Content may be shared between members of your own family within the App. Our third-party processors are limited to Google (Firebase, AdMob) and Apple (Sign in with Apple), who process data on our behalf to provide the service.

5. Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the App. This removes your account and its associated data. For any questions or data requests, email admin@jacobko.app.

6. Children

Koru is intended for parents and expecting parents (adults). It is not directed to children. Photos you add may include your own child; they remain private to your family.

7. Region & Compliance

Koru is launching in New Zealand first. We aim to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and apply similar protections elsewhere. Data processed by Google and Apple may be stored on their servers in other countries under their standard data protection terms.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
